That is right for you,but not everyone agrees. I want to do the big block bustler like Starwars. I feel your kind film just don't get look at by alot of people and you can not make a living. To me making movies is also about have people watch. It's Art to me,but ART to the Massses.Hey do what is right for you.If I did it your way I will hate it.I love movie making THE BRENDA DIANE SMITH WAY. 35mm RULES

Blockbuster movies are NOT art. They are made for only one thing. MONEY. Now, if you want to get rich... then make commercials. Do you know how much lies in making commercial... and you can a lot more commericals in five years, then you can feature crap blockbusters.

If you want fame and riches.. then yes. The blockbuster is for you. However. Hollywood isn't just letting anyone into the door anymore. You need to be different. You MUST write your own stuff. You don't have to direct it, but you MUST get a handle for writing. Anyways, Um. Yah.

And what does "35mm Rules" mean. From the sound of your message, I would question whether you have even used a 35mm cam. Just my retort to your opinion... a little honesty never hurt anyone.

Just thought Id add something, there are loads of good features made on lo-no budgets too- you just never get to see them.
Bear in mind that if someone makes a low budget feature film, almost all their money will go into production. Very little of it on marketting. That means that very few people ever even hear of it, let alone see it.
I guarantee you find the right PR, give them 2/3rds your budget. Make the film on the rest and they can sell it, and people will get to see a 'good low budget feature'.
Film making is not just about the practicalities of putting together shots. It is also about 'selling' the thing.
Look at Blair Witch. Perfect example. Their marketting made a pretty poorly shot bog standard film into a phemonenon.
I was reading the other day that Hollywood have lost the 'event' aspect of their films. It used to be a big event when a film came out, thesedays its called 'hype'. A genuine big event captures peoples imagination. Hype doesnt.
Blair Witch rekindled that, the film became 'important', important enough to watch.
Perhaps the system is drowning in its own shit. That would be a pity.

for example, compare the marketting budget alone on a high profile film, like MI2- thats what makes it High Profile.
with the entire budget for a 'standard low budget' film.

Money makes money. - You BUY into your market/profile/culture.
Its the same as saying 'its the next Indiana Jones' or 'a cross between Monty Python and Jim Jarmusch' - you are promoting the film onto the same playing field, to get it seen.

Unless the film has another remarkable property then it would probably be lost in time.
Think about Jean Luc Godards 'Breathless' A FANTASTIC film no matter how you look at it. But I bet that if it hadnt been made at the time it was - amongst the hip French movement going at that time, it would remain almost unknown.
